Family Medicine

Family medicine is based on long-lasting and caring relationships with patients and their families. It is an integration of biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences to provide continuous quality and comprehensive care dedicated to treating the whole person. Family Medicine encompasses care for all ages and genders and delivers acute, chronic, and preventative services to their patients.

We offer Family Medicine for adolescents all the way to seniors, including well visits (check-ups), disease management for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, urgent appointments for colds and flus and minor injuries, and treatment of basic sport injuries and other musculoskeletal problems.

Naturopathic medicine focuses on holistic prevention and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Naturopathic doctors use both conventional diagnostic testing as well as natural treatments.

Our naturopathic doctor believes fully in the body’s ability to heal, and recognizes that addressing the root cause, rather than controlling the symptoms, is necessary for complete restoration. She believes it is important to understand the entire person in order to facilitate healing and offers each patient a comprehensive individualized treatment plan to ensure that his or her goals are reached.

Our naturopathic doctor has special interests particurlarly in hormone balancing, autoimmune disease, natural approaches to dermatology, and cardiometabolic disease.

Yoga has many definitions, but is essentially the practice of fostering the connection between the mind, body, and soul.

There are many different types and practices of yoga, but most employ the utilization of breath and physical movement. Through breath and movement, an individual is able to cultivate a better connection with their minds.

Yoga is know to have many physical and mental benefits. Here are just a few:

  • Increased flexibility
  • Increased muscle strength and tone
  • Improved respiration
  • Improved digestion
  • Reduced back pain and chronic pain
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved focus and mental acuity
  • Improved energy
  • Improved self and body awareness

Yoga is for all levels and ages. Our yoga teacher is currently offering two types of classes, Gentle Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga. The class sizes are unique and small (2 - 8 people), so that we can ensure that you receive the attention and care you deserve.

Gentle Yoga

This class is geared towards an older population, or for people that have just had surgery and/or are suffering from pain. It is also for people who are just starting an exercise routine or who are not as active. This class does not have many strenuous poses,  nor many poses that are weight-bearing-- but it still offers strength-building practices. This class is very customized towards the students that participate.

Therapeutic Yoga

This class is uniquely designed for those with specific pains, for example, back pain or carpal tunnel. Our yoga teacher individually checks in with her students to see what poses her students require to help alleviate or reduce their specific pain, and have a safe and beneficial practice.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system. Chiropractors are health care professionals focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. They use hands-on adjustments to restore joint function and support the nervous system. Chiropractor professionals focus on prevention, diagnosis, and conservative care to reduce pain, increase movement and  functionality, and improve performance.

Chiropractic care is mainly used as pain relief for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue.

Our chiropractor emphasizes a compassionate and holistic approach to care, and he has also completed three levels of certification as a practitioner of Network Spinal Analysis, a specialized form of gentle spinal care and wellness strategies.

Integrative Bodywork

Every session of integrative bodywork with Christine at HP2 Integrative Wellness incorporates elements of:

  • Craniosacral Unwinding
  • Reiki
  • Polarity Therapy
  • Sound healing with tuning forks
  • Oracle/meditative message

CranioSacral Unwinding Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands on healing technique incorporating the whole body (but majority of the treatment is concentrated on the scalp, spine and sacrum), to help eliminate restrictions and tension to restore symmetry and strengthen the body's ability to heal itself. With light palpations, energetic work and communication, this therapy enhances and empowers the body’s natural healing process to help the muscular and nervous system reclaim optimal balance, reduce stress, and strengthen your body, mind and spirit. This modality is helpful for those who have experienced any head or spinal trauma, whiplash, headaches/migraines, TMJ syndrome, insomnia, anxiety, dental trauma or any emotional, physical or mental distress. By balancing the central nervous system allows other systems and connective tissue to relax and begin to reset and heal.

Reiki is a Japanese gentle and safe healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy/Univesal Energy/chi or Prana" that flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki treats the whole person including the body, emotions, mind and spirit-- creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. With light placement of the practitioner’s hands, along with intention of removing any energy blocks, reiki allows muscles to relax and quicken the healing process.

Polarity Therapy is a holistic bodywork modality based on the idea that the flow and balance of energy in the human body is the foundation of good health. Polarity Therapy is an energetic modality based on the five elements, with positive and negative balance which involves gentle rocking, stretching and pressure sensitive touch based on energy flow. This will rebalance and bring clarity to your body.

Exercise Physiology

Clinical Exercise Physiology encompasses exercise training for people with chronic diseases where certain forms of exercise have been shown to be of therapeutic benefit to certain chronic health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, and metabolic disorders.

Exercise Physiology addresses the short-term biological responses to the stress of physical activity, and how the physical body reacts to repeated sessions of physical activity over time.

Our exercise physiologist begins with a health and fitness assessment where you will be asked questions about your  lifestyle, needs, goals, and body, as well as your background and history with fitness as well as body composition. It includes assessment of gait, waist-to-hip ratio, cardiovascular endurance, pulmonary function, strength and flexibility.

The next aspect of your assessment includes a detailed static posture and movement assessment, and testing of range of motion. This assessment helps to become aware of muscular and joint strength and imbalances that may be contributing to daily altered movement patterns and chronic pain.

Based off your assessment, a personal and customized corrective or fitness exercise program will be designed just for your body build and goals .

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy helps patients to reduce pain and to improve or restore their mobility and strength, reducing the need for prescription pain medication. It helps teach patients how to prevent or manage their injuries to achieve optimal health and physical function.

Physical therapists develop a plan custom to each patient to help them achieve their goals or restore health by developing treatment and exercise plans based on the individual’s body.

Our physical therapy differs from the rest in that the patient spends their whole appointment with the therapist, rather than most clinics where the patient is handed off to someone else to help with the exercises and stretches.

As a patient, our physical therapist will be there to guide you the entire time and give you the attentive treatment you deserve to restore your health.
